Women’s Council

The HBA of Greater Des Moines Women's Council is dedicated to promoting, enhancing and encouraging home building and women in the industry. It supports the future of the home building industry through a scholarship program.

The Women's Council represents women who are HBA members, member employees or family members of those in the industry. The national Women's Council is affiliated with nearly 100 local and state councils throughout the country.

For members, the Women's Council offers education, networking opportunities, travel benefits, information access and access to other Council and HBA services.

Women's Council Scholarship Program:
The Women's Council awards multiple scholarships each year to students.  The students must be residents of Iowa and pursuing a career in the home building industry and related trades.  Applicatons from high school, college and graduate educational levels are accepted.  Preference is given to those in the lower educational levels first.  The scholarship award is up to $1,000.00 per student and the school (or according to the school's requirements).  Scholarships are a one (1) time award.  Students are eligible to apply and receive funding in successive years.

Membership Services:
The Council serves a dual role in supporting membership. It provides direct member services to the general membership through the following:

• Business opportunities (contacts, networking, newsletter publication, national educational programs, leadership training programs, annual convention)
• Individual opportunities (committee involvement, community service & scholarships, awards & recognition, annual directory, leadership, social contacts)
